Darwin to Burketown

Darwin - Tindal (Katherine), 10/5/97.

With a clean aircraft and all maintenance signed off we departed coastal towards the East Aligator River, turning southwards and overflying Jabiru before heading for some sightseeing at Jim Jim and Twin Falls. We then went on to Tindal (or Katherine). The view over Kakadu National Park was great and well worth the extra cost of going out of your way to see it.

Tindal - Burketown, 11/5/97.

We left early this morning for Booroloola, via Katherine Gorge. The flight was long and there wasnt a real lot to navigate by. This was by far the hardest place to navigate to date, but we made it without too much trouble to Booroloola for lunch. The next leg to Burketown was just the same, by keeping heading and time we found our way there. Once at the airfield we aranged our accomodation at the Burketown Pub and that came and picked us up from the airport. If your out this way you have to go to the pub! (Is there another place to go?) We landed on a Sunday, which meant that the pub had no meals on, this meant heading to the local State Emergency Service hall for a BBQ.
