Broome to Darwin
Broome - Wyndham, 5/5/97. From here we orginally planned to fly via Halls Creek but we changed our plans yesterday in an attempt to visit Truscott and Kalumburu. Our new plan took us to Derby where a few phone calls got us fuel at Kalumburu but the operators at Truscott wouldnt let us land. We flew from Derby to the Mitchell River Falls, overhead Truscott, and onto Kalumburu mission for our fuel. The people at the mission we great, they even took Graeme and Tony to have a quick look at some old crashed WW2 aircraft near the edge of the airfield. We then flew to the King George Falls for a look and onto Wyndham. At Whyndhan we had to hike into as the taxi's closed early. Wyndham - Darwin, 6/5/97. Early the next morning we departed wyndham for a flight over the Bungle Bungles, The Argyle Diamond mine and then onto Kunnunura for lunch. We departed after refueling for Darwin, the cloud base came down to around 2500 feet but we had no trouble getting in there. When we arrived we tied the aircraft down, refueled it and organised for the 50 hourly maintenance to be completed while we rested for a few days in Darwin. |
